Main content and toughness requirements of wear-resistant castings

The main materials of wear-resistant castings are cast low alloy steel, cast special steel and cast carbon steel. Heat resistant steel castings have high properties and low price. They are parts made of cast steel, similar to cast iron properties. But the strength is better than cast iron.


Wear-resistant castings are cast steel with carbon as the main alloying element and containing a small amount of other elements. The cast low carbon steel contains less than 0.2% carbon, the middle carbon steel with 0.2% carbon content and the cast high carbon steel with carbon content more than 0.5%. With the increase of carbon content, the strength and hardness of cast carbon steel increase. Cast carbon steel has high strength, ductility and toughness, low cost, used in heavy machinery to manufacture heavy load parts, such as rolling mill frame, hydraulic press base, etc. Used in railway vehicles to make heavy and shock-bearing parts such as pillows, side frames, wheels, couplers, etc.


Wear-resistant castings containing manganese, chromium, copper and other alloy elements cast steel. Generally, the total amount of alloy elements is less than 5, which has higher impact toughness and better mechanical properties through heat treatment. Cast low alloy steel has better performance than carbon steel, which can reduce part quality and improve service
